Musical Chairs

Photo offered by Tess Kincaid for Magpie Tale # 91

Standing still;
always poised to move,
never choose
contentment.
Looking back into the past -
purple dawn ahead.

Look out there.
Dance among the chairs
‘til daylight,
sitting down
whenever the music stops
as chairs disappear.

  8. Ann, this is a haunting response. I have a feeling many of us could carry this image on into more poems!

  9. What I saw as gray mist, you saw as "purple dawn ahead." I think I like the photo better now that I've seen it through your perspective.

  15. Good point -- a metaphor of choices in life, when a phase has ended, the choices might not still be there for the picking. Like this one very much.
